My 1st ever firearm purchase was a 629 8 3/8 44mag ('84) that I had for almost 20 years:(. With that in mind my 1st AR ('14 or '15) was a S&W (viking) and has still been a favorite to shoot! Next I went and bought a M&P 1.0 9mm 4.25" in '14 or '15 that has been a 100% reliable firearm...
I fell off the deep end when ordering my 1st 7mil (7-08) AR barrel back in April. 4 weeks before that I ordered a 6.5prc AR barrel. Now I just ordered a 7saum AR barrel. Nosler 185rdf for this 1 as it should fit mag length (2.830"). The 7-08 is 22" and the 7saum is 28". Anyone running...
Wanting to go off of calibers I have and not to get into another just yet I post this as cartridge decision only. I don't have 1 single 7 mil in my collection (probably never will) I mostly want a 270wsm, 300wsm or maybe saum's? I've gone thru my possible actions I would buy and know what...
I have my recoil lug and pin/dowel, so now the fun begins! It might look crazy, but all in all it's a 264wm🥳! Savage 110 w/ McGowen 32" 7.5T. Hoping to get the 150smk's going 3,300 or more. I need shorter action screws, then I'll be gtg.
Would you choose 1 over the other or do you use 2 or all 3? TGK, ABLR and/or EDL-X for game of all sizes. Who has used any or choose 1 over the other based on didn't perform as hoped? I don't have or used any TGK, but do have the other 2. On a note I don't hunt game that requires tags...
I had bought tac-x several years back and now no longer made. With tsx still being made, what is the difference or similarity between tsx and tac-x? I bought the tac-x as it was marketed as a barrier defeat/track thru style, but the tsx seems similar in design? School me on these?
For those who have either had custom jobs or built you own and have had poor results with it? Ok, you now installed a barrel on your trusty rifle, worked up loads, tested.........and results were less on the lacking. You might have had/made a choice from a suggestion of a friend, internet...
What was your 1st 26cal, most used and favorite of this caliber?
1st, 264wm (Dad's pre'64)
most used, 264wm (40 years)
favorite, you guessed..........264wm
While I do have 4 cartridges in 26cal (6.5G, 6.5CM, 260rem and 264wm) the 264wm is the only 1 not in an AR style platform (working on 1).
So many wildcats to choose from, but......................................................if you were to take something already existing and neck up or down what would you design? Most anything
I would design for would fit into an AR10 platform. If you look at the difference in max psi of...
In determining what barrel length you want per cartridge decide on your range? What parameters do you set?
Take a 300bo for example (a horrible 1 maybe) with a 10" barrel. What would be your max range with specific bullet weight and minimum velocity for that range?
Having 3 different 30cals...
Do you have a caliber (not cartridge) you own more of than any other or just play the field?
For me I've been a 26cal fan as of shooting more of 264wm back in junior high than a few other cartridges my dad had. The 264 was a gun he bought just out of HS. It is a pre'64 mod70. He claims he...
I do this the same way for my rifle cartridges also. I base my decisions on the power of each cartridge, barrel length and distance it will be used for.
Examples: 40smith I'll use 135-155gr and for 10mm 155-180. I'm not much on using heavies in less powerful cartridges.
I don't hunt, but...
Not just calibers, but cartridges. How many different cartridges do you reload for? On top of that how many of each cartridge do you have a gun for that shoots/requires you to load different powders and/or bullets?
5.7x28 2 different mfgs (ar upper and ps90)
5.56nato/223wylde 7 from...
