Went out yesterday after supper and saw 5 deer and 2 sandhill cranes. Howie’s box call did set off the cranes. They make enough noise to scare off the dead.
This morning went out to my deer stand in the 40 and no luck yet.
I’ve scaled back also. Without question RL-17 and RL-26 are by far my most favorite powders. Been working on finding substitutes but those 2 are hard to beat.
Today I received what I believe is an unused set of 224 Wby dies. These are the original style Wby sold way back in the day. The cardboard box is even in decent shape.
This afternoon being too wet to do anything else , I dug out the 30-06. I decided to try out the 220gr RN bullets I got and some 180gr AB Grade C. Input my data into QL for some baseline with N555 and went from there. My Winchester brass is a little large on internal capacity making N555 ideal...
I’ve had good results following Barne’s recommended COAL. They list 3.210” for your combo. I would give that length a try before going thru your bullet supply.
